New Addition
A new addition by Pracheen Kala Samity in the field of instrumental music examination is inclusion of new musical instrument "TANTAR". In its current syllabus, Samity has included "TANTAR" for examination purpose. For information of all few lines in regard to "Tantar" is cited herein below:
Shri Tinkari Ghosh @ Tinu Ghosh (Musician):Qualification-BA, Occupational- Served at HSL & Steel Authority of India Ltd. as a Secretarial Asst. since 1971 to 2002, performing and teaching different musical string instruments like Violin, Hawaian Guitar, Tantar and Vocal since 45 Yrs., written 2 nos. of theoretical music books and above 3600 Bengali lyrics, has invented Tantar in 1985. Patent granted by Govt. of India for "Tantar” in 2006. Title of technology was awarded : "An improved musical instrument (Tantar)."
"Tantar" is a combination of Tanpura and Sitar. Its playing method is in combination of Sitar and Hawaian Guitar. It is a solo performing musical instrument, can produce both Classical and Light tunes nicely and easily. 2 main strings and 2 chikari strings are used. "Tantar" can be changed into Tanpura within 20/25 minutes, incorporating some changes of strings and unfixed parts therein and vice-versa. It is easy to play and possesses excellent tonal quality. Being a 'two in one' musical instrument Tantar's price starts from Rs. 11000/- only.
In 2011 Tinkari Ghosh @ Tinu Ghosh took part in a competition for "National Awards to Commercializable Patent" conducted by TIFAC, Deptt. of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi, for "Tantar". Amongst hundreds of application "Tantar" stands on top-20. Shri Ghosh's personal presentation on the subject was held in the meeting of HLSC at New Delhi. Now the matter is in process with Science & Technology Entrepreneurs Park (STEP), IIT Kharagpur for the purpose of survey / production / marketing etc. of the said innovation.
